Terrence Fortea hailed the collective effort of the Fighting Maroons after he led the University of the Philippines to a thrilling 82-81 victory over University of Santo Tomas in their University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 88 Final Four clash last Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum.
Fortea shared the plaudits with his teammates after he drained the game-winning 3-pointer with 48.5 seconds left to send UP to its fifth consecutive UAAP men’s basketball finals.
“I’m happy, but it’s really trusting the whole team. That is what helped us win, not only the 3-pointer that I scored. Each one of us really worked hard to get this victory,” Fortea said.
Fortea provided some much-needed scoring off the bench, dropping 8 points in 13 minutes against the Growling Tigers. He also had 6 assists and 5 rebounds for the Maroons, who will face the winner of Saturday’s showdown between the De La Salle Green Archers and the National University Bulldogs in the best-of-three championship series.
