The Denver Nuggets held on in the clutch to defeat the Houston Rockets, 112–109, in their 2025 NBA Cup group-stage matchup on Saturday (PH time) at the Toyota Center in Houston.
It was a back-and-forth affair, but the Nuggets preserved a slim lead until the final buzzer, sealed by a pair of free throws from Nikola Jokic.
Jokic led Denver with a near triple-double of 34 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists, while Jamal Murray contributed 26 points and 10 assists.
Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon exited early in the opening period after aggravating his right hamstring strain.
He played just three minutes and finished with a single point.
Despite the setback, Denver (12–3) retains the top spot in Group C of the NBA Cup with a 2–1 record, while the Rockets dropped to 1–2.
For Houston, Reed Sheppard led the way off the bench with 27 points for Ime Udoka’s team.
