The San Antonio Spurs surged to their third straight win in the 2025-26 National Basketball Association season, repelling the Brooklyn Nets, 118-107, Monday morning (Manila time) at the Frost Bank Center.
The Spurs built a comfortable lead behind a dominant first-half showing from franchise cornerstone Victor Wembanyama. The home team sat on a lofty 69-48 advantage heading into the break.
However, the young squad got too comfortable in the third frame, as the Nets chipped away and eventually trimmed the deficit to single digits. Brooklyn even took the lead, 90-89, after a three-pointer from Jalen Wilson early in the fourth quarter.
But just as momentum seemed to be slipping away, rookie Dylan Harper finished a tough and-one play to reclaim the lead, then followed up with a coast-to-coast nifty lay-in.
Moments later, the Filipino-American hustled for a crucial rebound that led to a wide-open Wembanyama three—effectively putting the game out of reach.
The French phenom once again led the charge, finishing with 31 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, and six blocks in another all-around performance. Harper tallied 20 points, eight assists, and six rebounds to help his squad pull away in the closing minutes.
For Brooklyn, Cam Thomas exploded for 40 big points, though his efforts weren't enough to carry the Nets to victory.
The Spurs will look to extend their streak to four when they host the Toronto Raptors tomorrow, while the Nets aim for their first win of the season against the Houston Rockets on the same day.
